Belize offers one of the most superb scuba diving locations in the world. The barrier reef runs the entire length of the country, starting at the Yucatan Peninsula and running through Central America. Reef dives range from beginner to expert levels with depths from 20ft to 130ft. Thousands of brightly colored tropical fish, Eagle Rays and many types of live coral are abundant, undisturbed and protected. Fishing is part of the Belizean culture. For many years San Pedro was known only as a small fishing village until the world discovered that it was home to world class fly-fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit (all three are known as a "Grand Slam") enjoyed on the "Flats". Knowledgeable guides will pole you through the shallow waters. Deep sea fishing for Barracuda, Mahi-Mahi and Sailfish outside the reef is spectacular and reef fishing for snapper is so plentiful you will tire before the fish stop biting!
